Walnuts May Help Prevent Type 2 Diabetes in Women…

A new study finds a correlation to Type 2 Diabetes prevention in women and Walnuts. The New York Times just published an article today on this study’s findings. The study does not prove to conclusively link walnuts to Type 2 Diabetes prevention. It does suggest that women who consume walnuts may have a better chance at Type 2 Diabetes prevention.

  1. Thanks for the post! I have to admit that I was caught by surprise when I first read the title of this thing, you just don’t think that walnuts could be capable of that. Still, my mom is a pretty big fan of walnuts, so I am more than happy to read news like this. However, I recently read about a study which suggest that there could be a bigger risk in store for women who develop diabetes while they are pregnant (gestational diabetes). Now, the researchers that produced this data have stated that they need to conduct more research on the matter, but it appears that women who had gestational diabetes are at a significant risk of developing type 2 diabetes later on.

  2. This is a very interesting article, and I am glad that Stephen was willing to share that. The results do suggest that a significant number of women who had gestational diabetes would go onto develop type 2 diabetes. I would certainly be interested to read about the next related study. I just feel like further research on the genetic and environmental risk factors would have a lot to teach us.
